    1. He is very beautiful indeed, and has a personality to match! We would like to train him how to herd. We don't have a need for it at this stage but I think it would be useful down the track!

    1. Hi Janice, Benny is around 1yr 9 months. We don't know the exact date because he was picked up by the pound. He is a really wonderful dog :) Thanks for joining us!

  5. Hello Kat, I've also found you through Rhonda. Well, we have much in common I think, and I'll be back to keep up with what's going on with your blog. I'm especially heart warmed by beautiful Benny... I have a soft spot for Kelpies, we own a working/companion Kelpie, and I love it even more that you rescued him from the pound. Well done you! :)

    1. He was actually rescued from the pound by a group called Working Breed Rehab, who pick up kelpies and cattle dogs etc from pounds all around the place. They are fostered for a little while before they are adopted. They are lovely dogs :) we met one the other week (which is why we got a kelpie) who was 14 years old! He was very healthy.

  6. Benny is very sweet. Being a collie/kelpie cross he will no doubt be a very intelligent, easy to train dog. We have two collie/kelpie pups. Our girl Moxie is a similar colour to yours and her brother Banjo is predominately black. I expected their ears to prick as they got older but it hasn't happened. I followed the link to your blog from Rhonda's. Cheers

    1. Yes he is learning very quickly and is very attached to us already. He is on the bed next to me as I write this! Its interesting to see what happens with the mixes, it can be so different. I personally love Benny's ears :) they are very expressive. Thanks for checking out my blog!

  8. Great dog! What will you have him herd? We live out in the country in New Mexico and only have slacker chickens! We have 3 Chihuahuas and 2 Rotties. My hubs and I are both retired. I came over from Rhonda's blog and glad I came. Cheers, Elaine

    1. Thanks for visiting Elaine! We will probably have him herding sheep but I think once he learns it he will be able to herd anything.
