Our Property

We live on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, in Queensland Australia. It is a subtropical climate, but is a bit cooler due to our elevation on the Blackall Range.

We bought our property in March 2017. It had been in the hands of people who didn't have a lot of interest in gardening, and so over the years had fallen into a state of neglect. At the moment the property has many weed trees and some lantana patches. It was lucky we are now caretakers of the property as if it was left for a few more years it would have been very difficult to bring it back.

The property is just over an acre in size. It has a small street frontage, a medium sized front yard and a two storey fibro house. The backyard is where the action is. It is 3/4 of the property size and it is where we can make our future orchard/paddock/vege patch. It is a gentle north west facing slope that makes its way down a spring fed creek. It is important that we stick to organic practices to keep the creek healthy.

There are a number of existing native trees on our property that we are going to keep. We want to keep a strong native plant presence throughout the area. There is a vibrant bird life that we wish to maintain to help us in our gardens and fruit trees, and also to enjoy!

As you can see from the photo above, there is a lot of vegetation to clear. Most of it is weed trees, so we will be helping the local environment and preparing our land for future use. I hope you will join us on this journey.
